Marquee Moon - Television (1977)

Those crisp, energetic guitars are as good as guitars get and the playing is otherworldly. The solos are creative, expansive, imaginative, and usually concise enough to add a bit of flare. And when they’re not, they’re the driving force between sheer masterpieces like the title track and Torn Curtain. While he can’t sing a lick, Tom Verlaine’s weird, charismatic voice is one of the coolest things about this album. Venus is his big showpiece, with the band doing this absolutely badass “DID YOU FEEL LOW?” mobbed backing vocal, and Tom responding with a casual “Naaaah…” and everyone else going “HUUUUUH?”
