St. Elsewhere moves at a breakneck pace. There are fourteen killer tracks packed like sardines in just 37 minutes, mixed together with Danger Mouse‘s slick production wizardry. There’s no skippers here – rare even for my favorite albums. I chose this first because it’s so diverse, something we really want to promote on this blog. Clever rap verses, gospel vocals, multifaceted beats, and psychedelia are blended together like spices in a well-made dish: disparate parts and strange combinations somehow ending as a satisfying final product. Some people may call it Crazy, but I’d say they’ve got their share of Feng Shui.
